Japan And New Zealand's Cultural World Heritage

-Japan-

Japan has 11 cultural heritages. For example, Horyuji, Himejijyo, Genbaku Dome and so on. Horyuji and Himejijyo were registered as cultural world heritages in 1993 for the first time in Japan and Genbaku Dome was registered as cultural world heritage in 1996.

Horyuji is in Nara and this temple was built in 607, so it is very old building. The reason it was registered as cultural heritage was because it has many cultural assets which attracted many people and it is important building in cultural history.

Himejijyo is in Hyogo and this castle is very wonderful. The reason it was registered as cultural world heritage was because its architecture technique was excellent.

Genbaku Dome is in Hiroshima and this building tells us that the war is very terrible. Many people wanted to register it as world heritage, so they started to collect many people’s signatures and their dream has come true.

-New Zealand-

New Zealand has 1 cultural world heritage. It has far fewer cultural heritages than Japan. Tongariro National Park was registered as mixed natural and cultural world heritage in 1993 because its cultural value was evaluated. It became national park in 1894 for the first time in New Zealand.

My Speech ~About Oktoberfest~

Let me introduce about Oktoberfest to you. According to the articles, more than six million people from all over the world visit Oktoberfest every year and about five million liters of beer is drunk by many people every year. The citizens and the tourists enjoy this festival. If you go to this festival, you can enjoy drinking beer with foreigners. This festival has been held since 1810, so this festival is continuing for 198 years. It’s very long!

Let me introduce this year’s Oktoberfest to you. According to the articles, this festival started on September 20 and finished on October 5. People enjoyed themselves to their hearts, drinking beer and dancing for 16 days. This festival is the largest festival in the world, so this festival’s scale, hall and so on were even bigger than last year’s. Munich city was founded 850 years ago, so the shooting fans shot blank shots from guns 850 times there on October 3.

My Hometown's Autumn Festival

Let me introduce my city’s festival to you. This festival is held at Ogawa shrine. This festival and this shrine are not big, but many citizens of Suzuka visit there every year. This year’s festival was held on October 12. During this festival, people in matching happi coats carry the omikoshi along the streets, shouting “Wasshoi, wasshoi.” Many children take part in this omikoshi and we can hear their cheerful voice, so there is a lot of noise coming from outside every year. When I was a small child, I often took part in this festival with my sister, brother and friends. I don’t know since when this festival has been started, but this festival has been held since I was baby. I wore blue happi and hachimaki which is written “Masturi”.

At this shrine, eleven-year-old or twelve-year old girls dance as “Mai Hime” in front of God. They have Sakaki in their right hands while they are dancing. They dance for God. They put on powder, so their faces become very white. They wear like Hakama and they become “Mai Hime” like Shinto priestess. I have danced as “Mai Hime” twice with my friends. I practiced this dance every night at Ogawa shrine.

After they finish carrying omikoshi and dancing as “Mai Hime”, people enjoy playing bingo game. Many people take part in this game because this game’s free gifts are very nice every year. For example, DVD player, bicycle, digital camera and so on. If you want to take part in this festival, let's go to Suzuka City in Mie next autumn!
